Be More Wolf. Be More Hawk. Be more Human. A bold approach to leadership.
If you’re reading this, I imagine you’re curious.
Maybe it’s the wolf in you wanting to come out. Or the secret wish you have to fly…
Both of these beautiful creatures offer us a pathway into the sort of leadership we need for this volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world we’re living in.
When we adopt the ‘hawk’ mindset, we allow ourselves to see the bigger picture, whilst also focusing on the details within their wider context. Wolves, on the other hand, are eco-system engineers, with the power to rapidly transform entire systems through their presence.
The invitation to ‘be more human’ sits at the foundation of so much of our work in the world. When we step back from the day to day lives, and look at some of the things we’re doing, it becomes clear how removed we’ve become from humane ways of living that help people and planet to flourish. Many of us are simply surviving from day to day. But wouldn’t we all rather be thriving?
Any of you gardeners out there know that the key to a healthy and bountiful garden lies not in the plants alone, nor in your green fingers. It lies in the soil. It is the soil which allows and enables life growing within it to flourish or wither. When we get the soil healthy, we’re cultivating the conditions for thriving.
As it is with our schools.
Successful schools don’t focus on output, they focus on culture, because when you get the culture right, everything else follows.
We can no longer continue trying to solve our problems with the same thinking we used to create them. It’s time to regenerate our approach to leadership and put thriving at the top of the agenda.
A journey of regeneration
In our series of leadership events for schools, we’re applying the learning of modern neuroscience with the work of systems-thinkers, psychologists and pioneering educators. We’re bringing our own leadership and teaching experience together with leadership coaching, indigenous wisdom and - of course - the inherent needs for human and natural-system flourishing.
These courses will help develop our inner world, challenge our thoughts and assumptions and move from visionary to practical design-processes to support schools in creating a culture of thriving.
In the midst of the world’s upheavals, if you’re seeking a healthier way forward for yourself and your school we welcome you to:
Be More Hawk – A free leadership event on 19th May 4-6pm
